Jingle Belles

Those geniuses at Love Magazine (the ones who gave us the Kate Upton bunny video) are at it again, with an advent calendar of lingerie-clad models writhing around to Christmas music.

Day 18 gave us Anne V (All I Want For Christmas Is You).
Day 20 was Irina Shayk (Jingle Bell Rock).
And Day 22 was Jessica Hart (Santa Baby).
For good measure, enjoy 2010 WAG Abbey Clancy as Day 10 (I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus).
Merry Christmas to all.

Covers of Covers

A sharp-eyed, anonymous commenter pointed something out to me yesterday, something I failed to see despite it being directly in front of me. For the 50th swimsuit issue, SI must be recreating some iconic covers, using current models and bodypaint.

Looks like we’re getting Babette March (1964):
Tannia Rubiano (1971):
…and Tyra and Valeria (1996):
I think it’s a great idea—a celebration of the history of the issue, mixed in with the relatively recent bodypainting tradition and some current favorite models.

Tyra’s 1997 cover and Daniela’s 1995 cover have already been impersonated by Marisa. What other covers would you like to see? Who’s our generation’s Paulina?
What current models would they cast as the 1994 threesome?
This feature seems like something that should be a surprise, not to be revealed until February of 2013. I wonder if MJ Day and company accidentally released more clues than they were supposed to?

In any case, I just got a jolt of excitement about the 2013 issue. Just a couple months to wait.

Two Scoops?

TMZ is claiming that these are leaked photos of a Kate Upton photoshoot for SI in Antarctica. No idea if it's true. It's not like Antarctica is roaming with penguinparazzi, so I don't know who could have secretly taken the pics. The presence of some Oreo product placement is baffling too.
Also, my freckle-sleuthing abilities tell me Nina Agdal is getting her first bodypainting treatment. (Photo by MJ Day.)

Any newly unearthed photo of Elle is welcome, however bizarre.

One-Piece Wednesday: Crystal Renn, 2012

I've been saving these.
I think they're gorgeous pictures.

Posting Has Been Sparse

Sorry for the lack of material lately. Hope to get back in the saddle again soon.

Meanwhile, I thought I'd share a Tumblr site I stumbled across: Pictures of Stacey Williams. The guy has collected a whole bunch of big, quality photos of one of my all-time favorite models.

Casta Way

The rest of Alyssa’s tweet: “…real woman in a lingerie ad!”

Laetitia appears in a series of severely backlit lingerie photos for H&M.
Frankly, I don’t think the lighting highlights the girl or the clothing very well, but it’s always nice to gaze upon Laetitia.

And since we’re talking about Alyssa and underwear, here’s a nice photo of both.

Missing the Complexities

Complex.com just listed their 100 Hottest Supermodels of All Time. As you might imagine, nearly half of the list is made up of SI girls. There are a lot of obvious names (your Elles, your Christies, your Marisas, your Tyras, what have you), but I thought I’d call out a few deeper cuts, some girls who don’t get as much exposure on this blog as they should.
Yasmeen Ghauri (#92)

Carolyn Murphy (#76)

Daniela Pestova (#72)

Angela Lindvall (#49)

Selita Ebanks (#17)

Niki Taylor (#12)
Each model has a series of icons at the bottom of her page, including “SI Swimsuit Issue Certified” to designate ladies who’ve appeared in the swimsuit issue.
Unfortunately, it’s not used with a great deal of accuracy. For one thing, they left that icon off Cindy Crawford’s listing.
That’s understandable; she had one photo in one issue, and her fame was largely independent of SI.

But more oddly, they apply this icon to six models who have never appeared in SI.
Doutzen Kroes (#80)

Alessandra Ambrosio (#24)

Miranda Kerr (#18)

Gisele Bundchen (#6)

Claudia Schiffer (#5)
What do you think? Should these ladies have been in SI?

I normally don’t find myself wishing that models I know from elsewhere would appear in the swimsuit issue. But I have to admit, there are a couple of Victoria’s Secret models I just recently discovered who would make lovely additions.

They are Barbara Palvin:
…and Candice Swanepoel:
Maybe on some future hot girls list, that little icon will be lucky enough to appear under their photos.

Good Clean Fun

Janine Berey tweeted this the other day.
Shower time indeed! Seems like a good excuse for some SI models in showers, a theme that pops up surprisingly often. Some of my favorites:
Dominique Piek, 2010

Jessica White, 2008

Yamila Diaz, 2005

Oluchi Onweagba, 2005

Veronica Varekova, 2002

Fernanda Tavares, 2001

Aya Thorgren, 1994

Vendela, 1994

Paulina Porizkova, 1986

That’s odd. Paulina doesn’t seem to have very good aim. The shower maybe grazes her scalp and her left ankle, but otherwise the spray is completely missing her body.

That’s because the original image in the magazine looked like this:
Both versions of the image float around the internet. I’m not sure who made the little boy disappear, if it was an official edit by SI or someone who just didn’t want him messing up the view.

In any case, I wonder if it occurred to him (after he hit puberty) what an honor it was.
