She was a model search girl in 2016, but she was not selected, losing out to Mia Kang.
According to the loose style guide I’ve developed for this blog, the search contestants aren't considered official SI models (and therefore don't get a spot on the coveted “labels” list to the right) until they win — or are brought back as rookies in a later official issue, like Kyra's fellow 2016 search girl Ebonee Davis did in 2018.
However, Kyra did appear in the 2016 “Summer of Swim” thingie. In any case, in keeping with this week's theme, here’s Kyra in a couple of cute one-piecers from that summer.

Honestly it's my biggest pet peeve of having these girls be in the magazine but not officially rookies and therefore not SI models!?! The amateur ones of the past few years I don't care about, but the 2016 search especially was full of legit models. I didn't mind Mia, but honestly had her 6th of 6. It's a shame that Megan Williams could walk for Victoria's Secret but isn't an official SI girl.
But actually it's just nice to know I'm not the only one who's thought about the status of these girls in history of the issue lol.
