Now this is my era of SI! Will always be the Carol/Kim/Kelly era to me, even though was quickly followed by Paulina/Kathy/Elle (How did that murderers row show up in three consecutive years?). I remember Carol saying that she was told that Kim originally had the cover in 82 before they swapped it. Would love to know what image that was supposed to be. Regardless, Kim was the natural, athletic model that is the SI girl to me.
Not really related to this, but Coco Mitchell put up a pic on her instagram today from the 86 issue shoot that I hadn't seen before, but now that I've looked it's elsewhere on the internet. Still it's good to see a different pic of a one and done girl from the Jule years.

Very cool — I was for sure of the Paulina/Kathy/Elle generation, but I love rediscovering all 80s gems.
I remember that Carol Alt story too. Might have changed the course of swimsuit history...
